CATCH is a major project that aims to improve air quality in city centres across Europe by reducing harmful emissions, encouraging healthy urban lifestyles and promoting walking, cycling and public transport.

CATCH News aims to provide

everyone involved in the

transport, environment

and health sectors with

information on the project's

latest initiatives and research

findings from the three

European demonstration cities of

Liverpool (UK), Suceava (Romania)

and Potenza (Italy).

 

The project co-ordinators are:

* Merseytravel, Merseyside Passenger

Transport Executive and Authority.

The project partners are:

* Liverpool City Council, the local council

for the city centre of Liverpool;

* Arriva North West and Wales Ltd, the

largest bus operator in Liverpool;

* Primaria Municipality Suceava, the local

authority in the Romanian city of Suceava;

* CTP spa and STI spa, the public transport

providers in the Italian cities of Naples

and Potenza,;

* TTR Ltd, the transport consultants.

 

CATCH has a very clear and simple goal of improving city centre air quality through transport related initiatives. The project aims to do this in the following ways:

* Reducing emissions from existing buses

and introducing new, cleaner buses;

* Providing information on healthy travel

and alternative fuels for all residents and

businesses;
