When defining the Limited Traffic Zone (LTZ) in Potenza, the following criteria were considered:

•  The extension of the historical centre and the distribution of the principal activities;

•  The pre-existence of small pedestrian areas (e.g. Via Pretoria);

•  The transport accessibility and the possible circulation directions; and,

•  Geographical area.

The result was a defined zone with limited access to traffic which included:

•  Pedestrianised areas;

•  Park and Ride sites;

•  Changes to the exiting traffic routes to improve traffic flows;

•  Re-organising the parking supply to maximize short-stay capacity; and

•  Improved provision for public transport alternatives.
